Privacy Policy for WhatSat

Last updated: August 25, 2026

WhatSat is a freemium application supported by advertising. The app is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, and disclosed when you use WhatSat. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

WhatSat does not require user registration and does not directly collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, telephone number, or postal address.

To operate and improve the app, WhatSat and its third-party service providers may process limited technical and usage information, including:

This information may be used to provide app functionality, improve performance and stability, analyze usage, display advertisements, measure advertising performance, and prevent fraud or abuse.

Location Data

WhatSat uses your device's precise location while the app is in use to calculate satellite positions, visibility, directions, and pass predictions relative to your position on Earth.

Your current precise location is processed primarily on your device and is not stored on servers operated by us.

When you create a satellite-pass reminder, information related to your observation location may be stored locally on your device so the app can verify that the reminder remains valid. This information can be removed by deleting the reminder or uninstalling the app.

WhatSat does not intentionally provide your precise GPS location to advertising services.

Advertising and Tracking

WhatSat displays advertisements provided by third-party advertising services. These services may process device identifiers, advertising data, app interactions, diagnostic information, and approximate location to display and measure advertisements. Where permitted by applicable law and by your device settings, this information may also be used to provide personalized advertising.

On Apple devices, WhatSat may request permission to track your activity across other companies' apps or websites. Tracking is performed only when you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.

You can deny or change tracking permission at any time in your device's privacy settings. If you deny permission, you may still receive non-personalized or contextual advertisements.

We do not directly control how third-party providers collect, retain, or use information. Their activities are governed by their own privacy policies and your consent choices. For more information, review the Google Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Diagnostics

WhatSat uses third-party analytics and diagnostic services to understand how the app is used, identify errors, investigate crashes, and improve performance and reliability. The information processed for these purposes is technical in nature and is not used by us to identify you directly by name.

Information Stored on Your Device

WhatSat may store preferences, downloaded satellite data, consent choices, and scheduled pass reminders locally on your device. You can remove this information using the available app controls or by uninstalling WhatSat.

Data Sharing

We do not directly sell your personal information.

Limited information may be processed by third-party providers for advertising, analytics, diagnostics, security, fraud prevention, and operation of the app.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, our rights, or the security of the service.

Your Choices

You can manage certain data processing through your device settings, including location permission, tracking permission, notification permission, and advertising consent choices.

Disabling location access will prevent WhatSat from providing its primary satellite-tracking and pass-prediction features.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed through the app. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children's Privacy

WhatSat is not intended for children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so appropriate action can be taken.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated revision date and will take effect when posted.
